Last Meeting

Hi All,
I can't believe Book Club is over for the year - wow, time flies! You'll have to let me know if you read any of the other books in the Eragon series because I'm curious what you will think of them. Eragon and Saphira have WAY more adventures and there are a lot of surprises in the next three books. Wait till you find out who the red dragon on the cover of the second book is!
Unfortunately, only one of the groups was able to finish their trailer. It turned out pretty well though - take a look:

Pretty neat, right?
Let me know what you think!

Book Trailers, oh my!

So, we began work on the book trailers today. I really thought we would get a lot more done today, but things started to come together by the end. Planning is truly the hardest part. We'll pick up where we left off next time, and then we'll be able to get to the fun part - finding pictures, picking music and putting the whole thing together.
In the meantime, read up to page 402. I'm excited because some of the most exciting parts in the book are ahead of you. Just wait till you see what happens when Eragon meets the Varden!
While you're reading, pay close attention to Murtagh. Leave a comment if he does anything that surprises you.
Happy Reading!

update!

Hi Everyone,
I handed out notes today in school letting you know about our reading for next time and when the rest of our meetings are. I can't believe we only have 3 left - yikes! I'm going to try and schedule some more before I leave, I'll let you know if that will work at our next meeting on the 23rd.

I hope you're enjoying the book. By now I'm guessing that you're reading about some of the amazing battles and adventures that Eragon gets himself and Saphira into. You should have also read about Anglea and her were-cat. I think they are my favorite characters in the whole series because they are really mysterious. You never really know what their goals are.

Leave a comment and let me know how you are enjoying the reading and what you think about the plot so far. Is what is happening to Eragon and Saphira fair? Eragon never wanted to fight Gallbatorix. How do you think you would react if you were suddenly expected to be the leader in a giant battle? Do you have a favorite character so far? Who is it and why?

Eragon and Wordle!

Hi Everyone,
Today it sounded like everyone is enjoying the book - that's great! We decided to read a bunch for our next meeting, up to page 272 or the beginning of the chapter called Legacy of a Rider. I know that sounds like a lot, but remember you have the whole vacation to read and because of vacation we won't be meeting for 3 whole weeks. If you get started reading and feel like you can't keep up let me know (leave a comment on the blog or stop by the library) and we can re-think about how much to do.
Isn't wordle fun to play with? You can use it for a lot of things. Some day I'd love to make one for each of the popular series in the library: Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Bone, etc. I think it would be cool to display them in the library and hopefully get kids interested in the books.
There's another website that makes word clouds too, it's called ABC ya! Check it out here
Let me know which one you think is better and feel free to make some more word clouds connected to your favorite books and characters.
Happy Reading!

Eragon 1

Hi Everyone,
I'm excited that we've chosen Eragon (even though Genius Files is hilarious and awesome!) because it's a great adventure story with thrilling battles. Plus, I think dragons are cool.
While you're waiting for your book to arrive, you can finish reading chapters one and two on Christopher Paolini's website (scroll down to see it).
There are also some cool games and an interactive map on the activities page. Just stay away from anything marked spoiler - you don't want the ending of the first book to be spoiled!
Let me know what you think of chapter two once you finish reading it on the web.
~ Ms. Pierce
PS - Fingers crossed, you'll all get your books before Thanksgiving.
PPS - try not to give the fish too much food, we don't want them to outgrow the tank!

testing

this is so you can figure out how to write a comment.
"warning, this is only a test"
you won't be graded on it!
